About VoiceMail4All
How Does It Work?Having a VoiceMail4All number means that you get a private BT telephone number with a local DDI (such as "0208" or "0113"). Anyone who rings your number listens to your personal greeting and can then leave you a message. To pick up your messages you are given a free 0800 number which uses the same last few digits as your VoiceMail4All number. To pick up your messages just dial your 0800 number, press the "#" key as soon as you hear the voice, listen for the prompt to enter your password, and then listen to your message. It’s easy to use and everyone who calls you can leave a message - just like a normal answerphone. CostThe voicemail service is provided to homeless people free-of-charge. (Other voicemail services in London cost as much as £15 per month!) Even better, it costs you NOTHING to pick up your messages!! Because you pick up your messages via an 0800 number, you can call for FREE from any phone box or landline, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! So the service is entirely free! Please note that, unlike many "freephone" numbers, we receive no money from the calls that are made to your number, nor do we receive a fee when you call to pick up your messages. Possible Uses of a VoiceMail4All Number· Arrange get-togethers with family and friends· Find out when housing is available · Receive vital news from support and healthcare workers · Put it on your CV or give it to potential employers · Use it to start up your own business · Hear from family abroad and use personal greeting to send them a message back! · Use it as a free alternative to your mobile's voicemail box

How to RegisterThe VoiceMail4All scheme is offered through our network of Partner Projects. These are organisations who work with people who have had or currently have homelessness issues, or who are at risk of homelessness. If you wish to apply for your free voicemail number, then you will need to be working with one of these projects. All of our Partner Projects offer a wide variety of helpful services, so it should not be difficult to find one which will be able to benefit you. Once you are registered with the Partner Project, they can help you to apply for a voicemail number on this website.
Setting Up Your VoicemailOnce you have received your voicemail number, your Partner Project will provide you with full instructions about how to set up and use your voicemail. This will include showing you how to record your personal greeting, changing your password, and allowing you to practice picking up messages.Should you have any problems after that, just contact your Partner Project. They will either help you directly or contact us for further assistance.
How Long Can I Have It For?To start off you can have your VoiceMail4All number for a maximum period of three months. You and your Partner Project will decide together how long you anticipate you will need the number. Once that period is over your voicemail box will be automatically cancelled. However, if you wish to renew your contract so you can have your number for longer, you can do so with any Partner Project you are currently working with.People who have renewed their number more than once will have the option of renewing their number for six months.
Where is VoiceMail4All Available?VoiceMail4All has been available in Greater London since July 2005. In January 2010, we expanded out of the "0208" catchement area and into Leeds ("0113") and Brighton ("01273"). We are hoping to make VoiceMail4All available in other areas very soon.
How Can My Organisation Become a Partner Project? If you work for a homeless organisation that would like to make VoiceMail4All available to its clients, you will need to register as a Partner Project. For more information on how to do so, visit the Partner Projects section of the website.
